i know i’ve alluded to it before, & i can elaborate more sometime, but i definitely believe inspiration IS important for art —
—so is staying engaged while working [i’m ambivalent toward “flow” state…]
materials matter [note that i’ve updated my favorites]
why are you using what you use? even an ~fifteen minute sketch is an opportunity to practice intentionality, improving your intuitive thinking skills, etc, so you owe it to yourself to pay attention, to see like an artist when it comes to your own art process as you’re in the throes of it
for example, the sound of my pen on the sketchbook page influenced my approach toward the completed painting… [foreshadow], as did my knife play
